Mid-nineteenth century, Paris, France, in the Latin
Quarter on the Right Bank of the River Seine, sat the Café
Momus. Around its tables, Bohemians met to socialize and
share ideas. Amongst these men and women were poets,
writers and artists such as Henry Murger, Gustave Courbet
and Alexander Privat d'Anglemont who soon made Café
Momus a popular meeting place. The café's reputation was
such that it was featured in the Italian opera La Bohéme by
Giacomo Puccini. While here in this small café ideas where
shared and explored, Café Momus also teemed with
romance and the sounds of lyrics in current music and drama.
